5 Reasons to Include Video Marketing in Your 2019 Budget

We can’t believe 2018 is already coming to a close. It seems like just yesterday we were talking about what to expect for marketing trends in 2018. And now here we are, trying to predict the future of the fast-changing industry in which we work.

While we can’t know exactly what’s coming in the new year, we must speculate so that we can put together a plan to get the most out of our marketing dollars. As we near the end of 2018, you may already have your 2019 budget put together. However, if it doesn’t include video marketing, we strongly suggest that you consider adding it in.

Why Video Marketing is popular?

Video marketing has become a popular marketing tool in recent years, and we believe 2019 will continue that trend. In fact, we expect video marketing to become even more popular than it already is – if that’s possible! Everyone loves watching video to learn and to laugh. Why not reach those people with your marketing video!

If that’s not convincing enough, here are 5 more really good reasons to include video marketing in your 2019 budget.

1) Video is What Consumers Want to See

At the end of the day, the best results come from giving customers what they want. It appears that right now, they want to see videos, videos, and more videos.

HubSpot Research indicates that more than 54 percent of consumers want to see videos from brands over other content types (like email, social images, and blog articles). A Deposit Photos infographic reported that, in 2017, 74 percent of all internet traffic came from video. This same infographic predicted that in 2019, 80 percent of all internet traffic would come from video. Video is more than just a buzzword; it’s taking over the internet.

2) Video Increases Conversion Rates

Want more conversions on your landing pages and more engagement with your email marketing efforts? Of course you do. Video marketing is one of the best ways to do that.

Increase Conversion Rate

Statistics show that including video on landing pages may increase conversion rates by 80 percent. Plus, just by including the word “video” in the subject line of your email campaigns, you could increase your open rates by 19 percent. And, “according to Forbes, 90 percent of customers say video helps them make buying decisions and 64% of customers say that seeing a video makes them more likely to buy.”

3) Video Increases Brand awareness

One of the best things about video marketing is how versatile it is. You can create videos for many different purposes, and for every stage of the buyer’s journey. You can use videos to increase brand awareness, encourage brand engagement, inspire lead conversions, and more.

For example, you can create fun social videos to show potential customers your brand personality. Or, you can create simple informational product videos for potential customers who want to learn more about your products. For buyers who are further along in the sales funnel, you can create more strategically targeted videos that lead visitors to a landing page to take a specified action.

4) Video is Cost Effective

Another great thing about video marketing is that it doesn’t need to be fancy, which means you can shoot a simple yet powerful, high-quality video campaign using your iPhone. And, you can reach a large audience at no cost simply by uploading your videos to the user-friendly and popular platform, YouTube.

Alternatively, you can use the second largest video hosting application, Vimeo, instead. There’s a free version, or, you can upgrade to one of four premium subscriptions, which offer additional features depending on your needs. Pricing for premium Vimeo plans range from $7 -$75 per month, which we think is pretty affordable.

5) Video is (Relatively) Easy to Do

Perhaps the best thing about video marketing is that it’s really not that difficult to do. You can get elaborate with your studio, lighting, camera equipment, etc. but you don’t have to. According to HubSpot, “Prosumer cameras” are a great choice for those who want to create videos that are a little more professional than what you can do with your iPhone, but need something that is easy to use, and affordable.

And writing scripts for videos doesn’t have to be complicated, either. You can start by using a blog you’ve already written and turning it into a video. Or, you can film one of your salespeople explaining how to use one of your products. You can also just jump on Facebook Live and start talking about something relevant to your audience.
